SHARED WORSHIP SPACE FAREWELL — Father George La Grange and Rev. Bruce Chalmers (green stole) at St. Mary's Anglican/United Church and Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Sorrento.

After 35 years of sharing the same worship space, the congregations of St. Mary's Anglican/United Church and Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Sorrento gathered on Sunday, June 14, 2009, to say farewell and reminisce. Father George La Grange and Rev. Bruce Chalmers officiated at the joint service with expressions of gratitude, thanks and hospitality. In 1974 members of the Sacred Heart Parish in Chase approached St. Mary's in Sorrento with the view to holding services in Sorrento. Since that time Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church has held regular services in St. Mary's Church on Saturday evenings and/or Sunday mornings. In 2008, the Roman Catholics began construction of a new church building in the Blind Bay area of the Shuswap and on Sunday, June 28, the first mass was held in their new facility. St. Mary's prayers are with their friends at Our Lady of the Lake in this exciting new beginning.

SERIOUS RENO — The roof replacement work of St. Mark's Kaslo, May 2009, thanks to the generous grants of both the Anglican Foundation & Rufus Gibbs Trust. The project included R15 insulation before new cedar shakes were placed, which could mean considerable saving of heating loss during winter, and cooling effect during summer.
